The Painter: The Red by L. Vera
In a different world and in a different time there was a war. The citizens that survived called it The War of Colors and as the Red Queen took town after town she sent her painter to claim her new land. Her painter was an outcast from her army. He was once a decorated soldier but was no longer any use to the Queen. He now served only one purpose, painting.
"Kids, stay inside," a mother calls to her children.
"Mom, what kind of car is "
Her footfalls were soft and soundless, making the cold stinging wind's whooshing sound louder, more stiff. The deserted highway was bathed in the moonlight, and no other person was in sight. A calm sensation of deep longing hung in the air, making the night feel more like a listener than a comforter.
Her keen brown eyes with compressed enthusiasm scanned her surroundings. Emotions of uncertainty and pleasure burst inside of her simultaneously, as she continued to walk carefully. She did not know where she was.
All she remembered was the worst one of the worst nights of her life. The intolerable, searing pain. How frozen she had fel
Tonight I have gone over
Gone over in feelings
The feelings have drowned me
Not just mine; others
They carve deeper than normal
Stalking me through the night
And looming around the morning
Tormenting until relieved
Their effect is widespread
What should I do?
My happiness is always there
Just waiting around
It's always with me
I just don't always see it
My happiness lives off of others
The companionship of a friend
A touch from a lover
The assurance of a comrade
My happiness comes alive when you're near
And it hides when you're gone
It lusts for your presence
It longs for a friend

The Seasons Change
Beautiful Melodies
On a summer afternoon.
The breeze was gentle
But fall came too soon.
I still remember your smile,
And the way you made me laugh.
But true colors soon appeared,
And I knew it wasn't meant to last.
Promises under the apple tree
Soon died like its leaves.
I thought I knew all
But you had other tricks up your sleeve.
Silently but surely something was changing.
The autumn frost soon hit hard and fast.
Leaving all we loved and built
Into bits of shattered glass.
You held my heart and crushed it
Just like the golden leaves beneath your feet.
I believed each word you said to me,
I believed every word of your dece

Feeding the Wolves
They're the ones that stir the wind
The protectors of the wood
The phantoms hiding in the shadows
Never catching them where they stood
They survive together as one
They struggle to live on their own
Working together with one mind
Or working secretly, alone
They fill the air with their chorus
Each voice so beautiful and unique
A new tone, a new feeling
Haunting the air as they speak
They are the hunters of the night
Followers of the iridescent Moon
Hungrily stalking their doomed prey
Spilling blood colored maroon
Their spirits are wild and untamed
Untrusting of the hand that feeds
Following instinct only to survive

Don't close your eyes,
Because you would miss it,
The moment you always dreamt of,
Will come to pass today.
Don't close your eyes,
The skies are overcast,
The sun is in position,
The light is just right,
Don't close your eyes.
Trust me, you would be surprised.
